How long does a felony stay on your record?

I have my sister Lucy Cano in Lew Sterrett. She is in for probation violation from 2000. She was given 2 yrs. Someone told her that if she stays in Dallas, she would have to do the whole 2 yrs, but if she is transferred out to Gainesville or Huntsville (unsure) she could do 6 to 9 months. Do you think this could be true? How would I know if she would be transferred?
