How long does a felony stay on your record?

I have been up to see my brother at kays building and they took him a visitors slip to put me on the list i saw the man take it up to get him to fill out and i have been there twice and they say im not on it and that cant be true they are saying there is no visitors list at all, what can i do to make sure i get too see him this is his first time in jail and im all he has.

Umm thats not right because kays tower dosent have a visitor list. they let anyone in
